A folk night featuring bands that dwell like fungus in the cellars of Helsinki. They’ll crawl out of the plug sockets and spawn onto the stage with raucous, touching and raucously touching Americana, Scottish, Irish, English and Finnish folk music old and new.
This is the first of a new folk club night featuring five bands offering a wide variety of entertainment. The groups showcase Americana, Celtic, English and Finnish folk music old and new, with a jazz-rock kicker from band Paracetämol.
Ceol argus Craic features traditional and contemporary Irish and Scottish tunes including some songs in Irish Gaelic sung by Conor Cleneghan.
Pied Piper play 70s-style English folk music, referencing Anne Briggs, Pentangle and Steeleye Span. Amanda Arttio and Max Van der Kamp.
The Folk Boomers play songs in Finnish and English from the 1950s and 1960s American folk boom era. Featuring autoharp and bass ukulele.
Paracetämol are a duo of musicians who are pushing at the edges of jazz-tinted experimental guitar and bass instrumentals. Sami Oksanen and Anton Salokoski.
The Toukola Mogs trio perform an acoustic set from a range of eclectic soft rock covers.

Join us for a two-part musical theatre workshop focusing on acting and Bob Fosse's distinctive dance style.
Isabella Nyström, a choreographer who graduated from the Sibelius Academy, will lead the dance section of the workshop. The acting section will be led by H. S. Fernandez, an experienced drama teacher.

The dance section will start with a warm-up and introduction to Bob Fosse's approach to movement. The second part will continue to focus on technique, but will allow more use of the space while practising combinations. In the final part, you'll apply the moves and technique you learned in a short choreography. The workshop will end with a quick cool down.

Katsomoon mahtuu n. 36 hengen yleisö ja istuimet on järjestetty kaltevasti. Noin 20 lisätuolia voidaan sijoittaa myös itse lavalla, jos esiintyjät eivät tarvitse koko aluetta. Teatteriesityselle katsomoon siis mahtuu noin 35–40 hengen yleisö, ja esim. runonlausuntaillalle tai komediaklubille mahtuisi 40–55 hengen yleisö.

Kodikkaassa lämpiössa on pieni moderni keittiö, jossa on kahvinkeitin, mikro, vedenkeitin, jääkaappi-pakastin ja tiskikone. Suurta myyntipöytää voi käyttää virvoketarjoiluun ja lippujen myyntiin. Katsojat voivat väliajalla istua mukavissa tuoleissa, sohvassa tai nojatuoleissa. Käytävällä on sukupuolineutraalia vessaa muttei inva-WC.

Näyttämöllä on tavanomainen teatterivalaistus, jota ohjataan Zero88 Leapfrog 48 valopöydältä, ja kuusi kpl nelikanavaisia T-Bar -himmentimiä. Ohjelmoitavassa valopöydässä on USB-liitin esitystiedostojen tuomiseen ja tallentamiseen. Valaistusvarustukseen kuuluu kahdeksan profiilivalaisinta (500W), neljä fresnel-valaisinta (500W), kaksi PAR30-valaisinta (pitkä 100W), kahdeksan PAR36-valaisinta (lyhyt 120W) ja kaksi kapeakeilaista PAR56-valaisinta (lyhyt 300W). Lisäksi on RGBW LED-bar -valaisin ja värikalvoja muihin valaisimiin. Saatavilla on kaksi lattiatelinettä lavanreunavaloille.

Do you need an intimate theatre to stage or rehearse for a show? A venue to hold a drama workshop? Or even a space to film or take photos? Then you’re in luck, because when we're not using the space oursevles, our small blackbox theatre is open to visiting productions and events at affordable rates. Our downtown location in Kamppi is easily accessible by public transport. And the theatre's new location on the top floor of a modern commercial building allows you to choose between a dark or light working area.

SEATING
The theatre can accommodate about 36 audience members in the raked seating area. Up to 20 more non-raked seats can be added if you don't need the full stage area for performers.The current capacity for most theatre shows is therefore about 35–40 seats, and about 36-55 for events such as poetry recitals and comedy clubs.

FOYER
Dimensions: approx. 11 m x 3.5 m
Our cosy foyer has a small modern kitchen equipped with a microwave, coffeemaker, kettle, fridge-freezer and dishwasher. A sizeable counter makes it easy to serve refreshments or sell tickets. Audience members can grab a chair, sofa or armchair during the interval. There is a gender-neutral toilet just off the foyer, but unfortunatey no wheelchair accessible bathroom.

DRESSING ROOM
Dimensions: approx. 3.0 m x 3.0 m
There’s a small dressing room for performers with two dressing tables, mirrors, and several garment racks for hanging costumes and everyday clothes.
TECH & EQUIPMENT
Use of the sound system, lights and basic furniture is included. However, please note that technical support and operation is NOT included. Please ask in advance if you would like to use any of our costumes and props for a reasonable fee.
LIGHTS
The stage area is rigged with a standard theatre lighting setup controlled via a Zero88 Leapfrog 48 desk and six four-channel T-Bar dimmers. This programmable desk has a USB socket for importing and exporting show files. We currently have eight profiles (500W), four fresnels (500W), two PAR30s (long, 100W), eight PAR36s (short, 120W), and two narrow-beam PAR56s (short, 300W). There’s also an RGBW LED bar and coloured gels for the other lights. Two floor mounts are available for photography or filming.
SOUND SYSTEM
We have two large speakers, a Yamaha MW10C sound mixer, INTER-M M500 amplifier, Behringer MIC500USB pre-amplifier, Shure PGA48–XLR microphone and mic stand. NOTE You will need your own laptop or smartphone to control the sound cues.
RENTAL RATES
- Rehearsal space: 15–20€ per hour
- Live performances and workshops: 45–60€ per hour
- Filming and photography: 15–20€ per hour
- We do not rent out the theatre for parties or social events.

TRANSPORT
Easily accessible by public transport and only a fifteen-to-twenty minute walk from the Central Railway Station. Kampi metro station is about 850 m away. Trams 1, 2, 4, 5, 8 and 10 stop close by (stops Hanken or Arkadiankatu). Plenty of buses also stop near by. There is no free parking, except on Sundays.
ENTRANCE
The entrance is technically on Lapuankatu, past the K-Market, under the "Keskisuomalainen Osakunta" sign. The fifth-floor buzzer (on the wall to the left of the blue gate) rings in our premises. If the front door to the building is closed, ring the second fifth-floor buzzer by the door. Take the elevator to the fifth floor. Our door is to the left when you exit the elevator.
ACCESSIBILTY
The building has an elevator. Unfortunately, there is no wheelchair accessible toilet.
