Auditions for FELT IF play The Bench

WHAT: Auditions for FELT IF play The Bench, written and directed by Beth Morton
WHEN: Saturday 8th September, 1pm to 3.30pm
WHERE: FINNBRIT, Fredrikinkatu 20 A, Helsinki (MAP)

The Bench is a 40 minute light hearted play exploring themes of appearances and assumptions. The journey from disruption to acceptance, loneliness to company, leads to a realisation that, if you aren't consumed by such things your eyes can be opened up to how wrong you really are. The play sees the foundations of an unlikely friendship being formed and the impression that a third, once welcome, party makes by stepping into the mix.

There are roles available for two males and one female. All roles carry an equal function to the story, with all characters bringing undertones of their contrasting backgrounds to the situation within the play. Actors will be required to develop the back story of their character in order to aid the playing. A 'would-be' tramp, a persistently forthcoming young woman, and a rather odd online date make up the colourfully diverse cast of endearing characters.

Rehearsal times are likely to be one weekend day per week and a detailed rehearsal schedule will be drawn up in early September.

Your registration of interest in auditioning for a role would be appreciated (via Facebook or by email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.). This does not commit you to anything, and it is not a requirement.

PLEASE BE ON TIME FOR THE AUDITIONS!
Performance dates to be confirmed but the play will run as part of the FELT IF, scheduled 19 - 25 November

Please note - If you have been cast in The Woman in Black this does not prevent you from auditioning for The Bench.

Auditions for The Woman in Black

WHAT: Auditions for The Woman in Black, directed by Beth Morton and Joan Nordlund
WHEN: Monday 3rd September, 6.30pm to 9pm
WHERE: FINNBRIT, Fredrikinkatu 20 A, Helsinki (MAP)

Our spring production of 2013 will be The Woman in Black, adapted by Stephen Mallatratt, from the book by Susan Hill.

The Woman in Black is a ghost play which creates a tense and eerie world for the audience. The dark tale, told by Mr Kipps, with the help of an Actor, transports us back to Eel Marsh House where our visual and audio senses will be heightened in order to feel the supernatural atmosphere of the story.

The roles for 2 males and 1 female will pose psychological challenges for the successful actors and require a great deal of in depth development. With the use of sound and imagination also being key factors in portraying the story for the audience, the actors will be required to consider their physicality and voice in order to create tension.

All three roles carry the same weight of importance to the story, with the role of the Woman being the most physically demanding, as she has no dialogue and must play the strong, pivotal character only through movement.

Due to personal circumstances the play will take an unconventional directing format. Beth will be the responsible director for most of 2012, handing over to Joan in mid-December.

Rehearsal times will be one weekend day per week (12.30pm – 6pm) during the period September-December 2012, and twice weekly after the Christmas and New Year break. We will draw up a detailed rehearsal schedule early in September.

First read through at FINNBRIT on Sunday 9th September (2pm – 5pm)

We would appreciate your registration of interest in auditioning for a role (via Facebook or by email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.). This does not commit you to anything, and it is not a requirement.
