Auditions for Poetry & Jazz: Family and Friends

WHAT: Auditions for Poetry & Jazz
WHEN: Submission deadline: 17 February 2015

Poetry & Jazz's theme for the spring is 'Family and Friends'. Love 'em or hate 'em, by blood or by heart, we're looking for pieces exploring relationships with our nearest and dearest – or not so dearest. From BFFs and prodigal sons to evil stepmothers and fair-weather friends. Is blood thicker than water? Is a friend in need a friend indeed? You tell us.

And we're not only looking for music and poetry, but also monologues, dialogues, and 'flash fiction' prose. All pieces must either a) be your own work, b) be out of copyright, or c) have performance permission from the author.

If you have any questions about material, contact Zoë (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.).

If you have performed in Poetry & Jazz before, just email your suggested texts (in full) to Zoë by Tuesday 17 February. If you have never performed in Poetry & Jazz before, please contact Zoë to arrange an audition time.

The performances will be on Tuesdays 24 & 31 March at 7 pm. Rehearsals will be held on Tuesday evenings at 20:15–22:00, starting 24 February, with a dress rehearsal on the weekend of 21–22 March (exact date and time to be decided once the programme is set).

pj poster 2014 autThis autumn, Poetry & Jazz will be exploring the theme 'Taboo'. Taboos vary – from country to country, era to era, generation to generation. So we're looking for pieces that talk about the things you shouldn't talk about.

And we're not only lo

oking for poetry, but also monologues, dialogues, and 'flash fiction' prose. All pieces must either a) be your own work, b) be out of copyright, or c) have performance permission from the author.

Due to the theme, material for this programme may be more daring or risqué than usual; but the producer will exercise discretion in the final selection. If you have any questions about the suitability of potential material, contact Zoë (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.).

If you have performed in Poetry & Jazz before, just email your suggested texts (in full) to Zoë by Tuesday 7 October. If you have never performed in Poetry & Jazz before, please contact Zoë to arrange an audition time.
