Underfoot Folk Club

Underfoot posterA folk night featuring bands that dwell like fungus in the cellars of Helsinki. They’ll crawl out of the plug sockets and spawn onto the stage with raucous, touching and raucously touching Americana, Scottish, Irish, English and Finnish folk music old and new.

This is the first of a new folk club night featuring five bands offering a wide variety of entertainment. The groups showcase Americana, Celtic, English and Finnish folk music old and new, with a jazz-rock kicker from band Paracetämol.

Ceol argus Craic features traditional and contemporary Irish and Scottish tunes including some songs in Irish Gaelic sung by Conor Cleneghan.

Pied Piper play 70s-style English folk music, referencing Anne Briggs, Pentangle and Steeleye Span. Amanda Arttio and Max Van der Kamp.

The Folk Boomers play songs in Finnish and English from the 1950s and 1960s American folk boom era. Featuring autoharp and bass ukulele.

Paracetämol are a duo of musicians who are pushing at the edges of jazz-tinted experimental guitar and bass instrumentals. Sami Oksanen and Anton Salokoski.

The Toukola Mogs trio perform an acoustic set from a range of eclectic soft rock covers.
